You’ve Got Mail

SLEEPY HOLLOW, 1998 is out in the world. The Kickstarter letters have all been delivered, and now anyone can buy the story. Which means I owe you a bit of a catch-up.

The last time I wrote here, we'd finished the Kickstarter and were about to head out to the desert to plan how to make the thing. I quoted Megan: “The hard part is done. Now we get to do the fun part.”

She was right about the fun part.

The campaign finished with 166 backers pledging $17,589. We funded our strange little mail experiment, then got to spend the next several months turning it into something people could hold in their hands.

In case you need a refresher: SLEEPY HOLLOW, 1998 is our reimagining of Washington Irving's story, told through letters and other things that arrive in your actual mailbox. Ichabod Crane is a computer programmer working on the Y2K bug. Katrina's a goth who makes zines. Brom has a grunge cover band. There is a Headless Horseman, and there is a diner named after him. The diner has excellent pie. Six installments of a fictional town, passing through the very real postal service. (Which led to some very real anxiety when letters went awry or didn't show up where they were supposed to.)

If you backed it, or helped someone else find it, thank you. You made it possible for us to do this.

Going Wider

Back in that last issue, I wrote about giving people time to find a project. That still applies. If you missed the campaign, or meant to come back to it and never did, the letters are now available to everyone!

We've also given stampact.co a new look and opened a merch shop.

There are Sleepy Hollow T-shirts, hoodies, and more, including “Them Bones” band merch. You can also advertise the Headless Horseman Diner without having to wait for it to exist, or rep Diedrich Knickerbocker the way Taylor would want you to. (That's Swift, not Dosse).

And everything is 10% off through Halloween, October 31, with the code STARK NAKED. That includes the letters and the merch.

Have a look at the shop. And please share the link -- and the discount code! -- with your friends, relatives, enemies, rivals for the affection of your high school crush, conspiracy theorists, museum obsessives, pie enthusiasts or anyone else you think would enjoy visiting Sleepy Hollow in the 90s.

And we've got more Stamp Act stuff to reveal coming soon...
